From being in the play to running tech for the play, I've always been involved ever since i was young. This year I decided I was going to run the spotlight for the play.

Everything started on Friday, December 16th, we showed up at the senior center and began unloading all of our Christmas decorations, The set up is similar to what i do in kids zone but to a much larger scale, and since I know where everything is and how it works, I played a big part on making sure everything got set up. we set up all the chairs and set up the stage, with curtains and everything. We used aluminum foil to block out any sunlight getting through the windows. Once everything was where it needed to be, We all went home early and prepared for the big rehearsal tomorrow.

12/16: 4 hours

The next day everyone showed up at the senior center at 9 o clock. While all the kids were getting into their costumes, the tech crew was making sure everything was working fine. I made sure the sound was fine, and the got my spotlight ready. Since I was operating the spotlight, I needed to know all of the cues and know all the different colors that went along with all the different scenes. We ran through the entire play twice and at noon we dismissed all the children, except those who needed to work on their part. I was allowed to leave then, but i came back that night for an emergency tech rehearsal. There we ran through the entire play once without any children, just to make sure we had it down. At 10 we were dismissed to go back home.

12/17: 6 hours

The next morning was the big day, where we got to finally present our play to everyone. The tech crew got there at 7:30 and did one more tech rehearsal. Once we finished the kids were all in their costumes and we ran through the play one last time. By the time we finished it was nearly time to let everyone in. The place was packed, and at 10:30 sharp, we began out 19th annual play of behold the king of kings. It was a great performance, and there were minimal errors from the tech team. Once everything was finished and the parents left, I stayed for an hour and we took everything down in less than one hour.

12/18: 5 hours
total hours in weekend: 15
Final number of hours: 71

12-4-11

This week was very similar to the structure and design from last week except this week our lessons revolved around the candy cane. The colors were red and white, the games involved candy canes, and in the end everyone went home with a candy cane. We decorated the senior center in all white and hung up Christmas lights. I uploaded a picture of what the set looked like. We played games involving snowballs, which we made my crumbling up pieces of paper. We had snowball fights and we made targets for the kids to aim for. We taught about the snowflake on how no two are the same. We used that analogy to explain how no 2 kids are the same. After we finished we had all the kids help out tear down, and after i helped organize the trailer and all of its contents. It was getting to full so I helped get rid of some unnecessary things.

hour count: 5
hours to date: 51

Alliance National Youth Conference

Every year our church puts on a national youth conference. My mentor spends months, planning and contacting other churches, and doing everything he could to advertise the event. The event started on Friday at 6 pm but i got there at 9 in the morning. I walked into a large basketball court. They laid out carpet and set up bleachers. But besides that we nothing. We had 9 hours to set up the stage, set up lights and make sure everything is ready for the hundreds of kids that are about to show up. We set up the stage and got all the trusses out of the trucks. Once the whole stage was set up, we began setting up our equipment. we sound checked and decorated the stage to alongside the theme of the entire conference. Once it was 6 people began piling in. We performed in front of everyone and it was epic. the event ended at 9 but since the event was to continue to the next day, we were able to leave everything as is until the next day.

The next morning I arrived to the church at 7:30. We had an hour to sound check again and make sure everyone was on the same page. Once people showed up We played again real fast and there was a morning service. Once that finished everyone broke into workshops. Workshops allow everyone to split up in to smaller more specific classes that the kids can relate to. I led one of those workshops. It was the children's ministry because thats what I normally do on a Sunday morning. I helped lead three back to back sessions of these workshops. I talked about my experience working with kids, and gave advice to people who asked questions. After lunch we had another service, which I just ran errands and did random things that needed to be brought to certain people. At night is when we packed up the most. We played one more time and there was a final service. When we finially dismissed we had to wrap up all the cables. take EVERYTHING into trailers and cars, and tear down the stage. We left the place as empty as it was when we started. I didn't leave the site until 11:30

Luckily for all of us the next day was sunday, which meant we had normal church service. Everyone was pretty exhasted but we still had our normal service. We taught a lesson about turkeys, and in the end we made crafts with the kids making a turkey our of rickcrispies, oreos and candy corn.

This whole weekend I helped out anyone who needed help, and I played in the worship band. It was a lot of work, but it was productive.

Hours:
11/11/11- 12 hours
11/12/11- 16 hours
11/13/11- 5 hours

total hours to date. 46 hours

11/1/11 (3 hours)

I am part of the worship team at my church so every Tuesday i am required to be at the church at 5 in the afternoon. I told Ms. Judy, my mentor, about the volunteer ship and she was very excited and was looking forward to helping me out. It would be every Sunday morning from 8 in the morning to 1 in the afternoon. I'd be getting five hours of community service per week. I'd be working with the children's ministry. I hope by doing this I would become more experienced in working with children and dealing with their parents.

50th District- Brian Bilbray

Political Platform:
Energy: he believes that the economic security is directly related to the energy security. Every Sunday morning I work in the children's ministry and help operate the sound system. If I volunteered there, it would be easy because I don't have to go out of my way to look for a place to volunteer at. At the same time, this could be a opportunity to try something new. It would be interesting to work at a thrift shop or a homeless shelter. Maybe I could stop by the salvation army by my house and see if we could work something out. Since I'm already dedicated to my church, i can add those hours to whatever I end up doing.
